Dharmendra produced this movie as a launch pad for his nephew Abhay Deol. Dharmendra earlier successfully launched both his sons Sunny, in Betaab and Bobby, in Barsaat. Both these movies were hits but he couldn't repeat the same success with Abhay. Though the movie didn't do much good for Abhay and the débutant director Imtiaz Ali, both young guys went on to make a niche for themselves.
