Jackie Gleason released a version of the title music as a single on Capitol in early 1964, with another Henry Mancini composition, Bird Brain, as the b-side. This puts Soldier in the Rain (1963) in the same category as Thunder Road (1958) and Because They're Young (1960): movies which had a version of the theme song performed by a member of the cast and released as a single, while that version wasn't the one used in the movie.

In the beginning Eustis Clay is seen admiring a parked sports car. It is a 1962 or early 1963 Shelby AC Cobra, one of the first cars Caroll Shelby made, and extremely valuable.

At the shooting gallery, in between bites, Bobby Joe's cotton candy is out of frame and suddenly loses half it's volume.

The window air conditioner in Sgt. Slaughter's office has been pulled from the window and into the set, exposing the rear, so the camera can frame Eustice Clay kneeling in front of it.

Master Sergeant Slaughter wears six hash marks on his left sleeve to denote that he had completed 18 years of service. On his right sleeve the five overseas bars indicate two and a half years in a foreign "hostile fire area". The patch on his right shoulder indicates prior war time service in the 24th Infantry Division which fought in the Pacific in World War II and also fought in Korea, so quite possibly Sergeant Slaughter's character was a veteran of both wars. The possible goof is that in the closing scene Eustis is in dress uniform wearing the Combat Infantry Badge but has no divisional patch on his right shoulder.

Slaughter: [Looking at himself in a full-length mirror] You know, Eustis, all men are vain in one way or another. I happen to be a secret narcissist.

Slaughter: After Clay slices his golf ball onto the green by standing at right angles to the green on Slaughter's instructions after slicing every ball he hits, the balls rolls onto the green and bumps into Slaughter's ball which is already there, and comes to rest against it with a dinging sound effect like when a cash register drawer is opened: Hoooo-weee!

Clay: FBI oughtta' investigate Sgt. Priest. I think he's an escaped war criminal.
