QWhat is 'Step Up' about?
AAfter vandalizing the stage at the Baltimore Maryland School of the Arts, street dancer Tyler Gage (Channing Tatum) is sentenced to 200 hours of community service at the school. At first, Tyler merely helps the janitor clean up messes, but he is later spotted dancing in the parking lot by ballet dancer Nora Clark (Jenna Dewan Tatum). When Andrew (Tim Lacatena), Nora's partner in the Senior Showcase, sprains his ankle, Tyler offers to rehearse with her. Through dancing with and getting to know Nora, Tyler gains a new outlook on life and tries to enroll in the school as a student. But then Andrew returns to take his place in the Showcase, and it looks like all of Tyler's plans will go up in smoke.

AStep Up is based on a screenplay by American screenwriters Duane Adler and Melissa Rosenberg. It was followed by four sequels: Step Up 2: The Streets (2008), Step Up 3D (2010), Step Up Revolution (2012), and Step Up All In (2014).
