Goofs
In the first bat scene it is mentioned that when in bat form vampires are nude, and this is verified in the following scene where Shane attempts to rape Sarah. However, this is ignored for the remainder of the film, with vampires switching forms while remaining fully clothed regularly.

This movie makes it very clear that vampires do not have reflections, but in the scene when Shane corners Sarah Harrison in the bedroom (about 1:25 into the movie), we can see his legs in the mirror on the far wall.

Q
What is 'Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat' about?
A
Scientist David Harrison (Jim Metzler) and his family -- wife Sarah (Morgan Brittany) and their two young daughters Gwendolyn (Vanessa Pierson) and Juliet (Erin Gourlay) -- have been invited to the sleepy desert town of Purgatory to troubleshoot a machine he has designed for synthesizing blood for transfusion (no more having to donate!). What he doesn't know is that Purgatory is actually a town full of reclusive vampires, and he and his family are about to get caught in a civil war between those vampires who follow Jozek Mardulak (David Carradine), who wants vampires to give up the 'old way' of drinking human blood, and those who follow the renegade Shane Dennis (Maxwell Caulfield), who thinks that the traditional ways of obtaining blood are preferable. Into the revolution walks Robert Van Helsing (Bruce Campbell), descendent of the famous vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing. It's going to be a hot night in Purgatory come sundown.
Q
Is 'Sundown' based on a book?
A
No. Sundown is based on a screenplay by John Burgess and director Anthony Hickox.
