According to Kevin Thoms (voice of Lance), about 10 episodes of the show following "A New Beginning" were already written but did not get the chance to be animated.

The hometown of Ilana, Lance and Octus whilst on Earth is Sherman, Illinois. Creator Genndy Tartakovsky is quoted as saying that one of his primary influences when working on the series was John Hughes' films, most of which are set in Sherman, Illinois.

The Wave Motion Cannon on Solomon's ship is a direct reference to the main armament of Space Battleship Yamato (also known as Star Blazers in the US).
