From the third season Seth Green replaced Jason Biggs as the voice of Leonardo.

The season three episode Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: In Dreams (2014) is an homage to the Nightmare on Elm Street series as much of the episode takes place in a dream world where the turtles are attacked and drained of their life force. It also features a character named Bernie who's character model is based on Jim Siedow who played Drayton Sawyer, the eldest of the deranged brothers in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) and its sequel. The character is voiced by horror actor Bill Moseley who stared along side Siedow in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) as Chop Top. After Siedows death Moseley would later go on to play Drayton Sawyer in Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013). The Bernie character runs an old roadside shop in a rural area just as Sawyer did in the Chainsaw series and at one point attacks Casey Jones with a chainsaw that clearly has "The Saw Is Family" inscribed on the blade. This was a line of dialog spoken by Siedows character in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) and was later used as the tagline for the second sequel, Leather-face which features a saw with the same line inscribed on the blade.

Casey Jones carries an Eastman hockey stick, a reference to creator Kevin Eastman.
