Comedian-actress Dodie Goodman selected Vern Lanegrasse from the three unseen date contestants because she liked Vern's answers about cats in his Louisianan accent. The show occurred on the same day as the Los Angeles area Northridge earthquake. The show sent Dodie, Vern and the female show chaperon to Acapulco. Flying, changing planes in the Mexico City airport, Dodie ran into a friend who asked her where she was going? Dodie replied "Acapulco" and he said it was "like going to Asbury Park!" The show put them up in the Hacienda Hotel for the week, but because the airline went on strike, their trip was extended another week! Their assigned driver, as tour guide, took them to all the hot spots in Acapulco, where they met many other vacationing star personalities. Their chaperon would disappear leaving them with their own daily adventurous directions and decisions. Dodie, after the first week, was tired of the chaperon always trying to get laid, so Dodie asked their jeep driver if he would screw her? and he nearly wrecked the jeep!
