When O'Reilly is explaining to the buyers of his bubonic plague virus how it will work, he says that it will be carried by infected rats, which will then spread it all over the world. The bubonic plague virus is not carried by rats; it is carried by the fleas that infest the rats, which is why it spread so rapidly during the plague pandemic known as "The Black Death" that killed tens of millions worldwide in the Middle Ages.
