What are the differences between this movie and the 1960 version?

The movie is set in a seaside town in California - think Santa Monica.It is set earlier, during World War II, largely because vaudeville was done in the US by then.Archie (Jack Lemmon) performs in a burlesque show, rather than a general music hall show.Archie's daughter (Tyne Daly) is enlisted in the Navy. His son dies in a car accident while coming home on leave, not in action (we never see him.)Archie's father (Ray Bolger) dies after performing a number with Archie, instead of just before going on stage. The show is held at the same theater Archie's been performing at, rather than a larger one in the city.
