Originally envisioned as a much larger action picture, similar in scope to "The Last Boy Scout". Several action scenes were removed to cut down the budget. They included the bombing of a boat owned by Campbell (who lived on a houseboat instead of an apartment), an encounter between Cole and a SWAT team, who have raided his house, and the final confrontation/gunfight at the LA museum.
After the "The Glimmer Man" was completed, Warner Bros. conducted additional editing on the film to make it faster and more like a regular "Seagal" movie. Cut scenes included several comedic and dramatic exchanges between Campbell and Cole and a great deal of Michelle Johnson's scenes, as Cole's wife, Jessica, were cut.
When Cole goes to visit Smith in the Restaurant he removes a red napkin from under the bread to wipe his mouth, however when Cole leaves the table the napkin is back under the bread.
Jack Cole: I know you're friends with everyone from the postman to the President, but *none* of them will touch you with a ten foot pole once this tape gets out.
Mr. Smith: [Having been shot in the foot, and then his left hand, Cole holds the gun up to his right hand]
Jack! Now, Jack-Jack... I-I need that hand, Jack, I need that hand, Jack!
