Why didn't The Jeffersons get a proper series finale to end the show?
A
After eleven seasons on CBS the network decided to cancel the long running sitcom without giving the writers, producers and cast the opportunity to film a series finale. The show ended abruptly in the summer of 1985 despite the fact that it performed consistently high in prime time ratings for the majority of its long network run. After many years leads Sherman Helmsley and Isabel Sanford had expressed interest in reprising the characters of George and Louise Jefferson for a possible reunion movie for television though it never happened and no script was written. Isabel Sanford died in 2005 and Sherman Helmsley passed on in 2012 so now the show lives on in reruns and on DVD.
