Trivia
The principal character in the movie aside from the children, Hugo da Silva, their agnostic, fortune-hunting but lovable friend played by Gilbert Roland, was actually a fictitious person, introduced to soften the impact of a sectarian movie on the wider public. He does not appear in "La Senora de Fatima", the 1951 black-and-white Spanish film version of the story made just prior to this one.

Rather than letting Susan Whitney speak her own lines in the final scene, when she appears with stage makeup to age her appearance so as to appear as Lucia did at age 47, the filmmakers dubbed in the very recognizable voice of Angela Clarke who also dubs the Virgin Mary.

"Lux Radio Theater" broadcast a 60 minute radio adaptation of the movie on March 30, 1953 with Susan Whitney reprising her film role. J. Carrol Naish, the uncredited narrator of the film, also appeared on the radio broadcast. He disguised his rich voice and spoke with a heavy accent in order to play Hugo, the role that Gilbert Roland plays in the film.

Goofs
The Lady told Lucia to learn how to read and write so she could spread God's message. When the administrator took them away in his car, Lucia was able to read a signpost indicating that they were going to the next town.

Just before the first vision occurs, Sherry Jackson picks up a little lamb, and holds it all the way through the vision. Frontal shots (from the lady's POV, showing the kids looking up) show her holding an actual lamb. Shots from the rear (showing the three children before the bush with the lady on it) show Sherry holding an obvious wooden or plastic model.

The narrator opened the scene at Fatima saying, "Here we are in the mountain village of Fatima on Sunday, May 15, 1917". That Sunday was on the 13th of the month, and the lady asked the children to return for six months in succession on the 13th day to the Cova da Iria, as the movie itself indicates.
