Even though the Kramer character is identified as "Kessler" in this pilot, the name is spoken only a single time in the episode, and it's very easy to miss: When Jerry says it quickly during the late-night Mets game viewing, the audience's laughter partly drowns it out.

In early versions of the pilot script, George was originally written as a fellow stand-up comedian named "Bennett".

In this episode, Kramer/Kessler has a pet dog (named Ralph in the script) but he is never seen again. The dog was added so that Jerry Seinfeld could perform a stand-up bit about dogs but the segment was cut.

Jerry's address is mentioned as 129 W. 81st Street a few time. However, the awning in front of his building has the address 757.

When Kessler is eating the sandwich, large chunks of meat dangle from his mouth. In the next shot, his mouth is empty and he takes another large bite.

Michael Richards' character is referred to as Kessler in this pilot episode but as Kramer in all other episodes.
