Barbara Kellerman, who plays the Green Lady, previously played the White Witch in The Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe (1988). This has led to the popular misconception that the two characters are the same person. In the book, it is merely suggested that the Green Lady is one of the Northern Witches.

Rilian wears a mask over his face in this film, a device which does not appear in the novel. This was added to the story to keep the audience from immediately recognizing him, as Richard Henders also plays the part in a flashback earlier in the film.

The Australian (post-)grunge band "Silverchair" took their name from the book this is based on. The Christian rock band The Swift were also formerly known as Puddleglum.

Puddleglum: Suppose... suppose we have only dreamed and made up these things like sun, sky, stars, and moon, and Aslan himself. In that case, it seems to me that the made-up things are a good deal better than the real ones. And if this black pits of a kingdom is the best you can make, then it's a poor world. And we four can make a dream world to lick your real one hollow.
