Why is Arnold Schwarzenegger the President of the United States in the movie?
A
James L. Brooks suggested that they use a real life political figure instead of a fictional character (such as the series' Schwarzenegger parody Rainier Wolfcastle), and deliberately chose to use Schwarzenegger in the role in order to not date the movie when the then-current President ended his term in two years.
