Another plague was filmed but was not used, according to the commentary on the 50th Anniversary DVD in 2006. This was the plague of frogs leaving the muddied Nile, coming up onto land, frightening and chasing Nefretiri and other Egyptians through their chambers of the palace. Cecil B. DeMille felt that the scene was not frightening enough and might even be considered somewhat humorous he omitted it from the final cut.

The highest-earning live-action film after Gone with the Wind (1939), a record that was finally broken by The Sound of Music (1965).

Goofs
The floating basket bounces in the water when the lid is closed, as would be expected; but scenes in which the lid is open and the baby Moses is visible, the basket is stationary, very obviously supported under the water. Maybe the basket could not float with the weight of the baby, or maybe it was for safety reasons.

When Nefretiri appears carrying their newly-dead son to Rameses, the boy's skirt is hanging very low. In the next shot, the excess skirt is suddenly wrapped back up, under her arm.

Q
How does it end?
A
Moses leads the Israelites -with God's help- out of slavery in Egypt, through the parted red sea, to Mount Sinai, where he receives The Ten Commandments. The film ends at the point where the Israelites are about to cross into the "Promised Land" after wandering for 40 years in the desert. Moses, it is explained, has angered God and is not allowed to go. He passes on to Joshua the Ten Commandments and his other writings (which become the first five books of the Old Testament). It is not actually stated or shown onscreen, but it is presumed that Moses dies soon after.

Judith Anderson---When Was She Signed for "Commandments"?
A
Chicago Tribune, Saturday, March 16, 1955, pt. 3, p. 6, c. 1:LOOKING AT HOLLYWOODby Hedda HopperJudith Anderson was signed by Cecil De Mille for "The Ten Commandments." Cecil tells me he's finished writing the script after three years of work. Starts shooting in 10 days. . . ._________________________
Q
Cornel Wilde---Was He Suppose to Star in "Commandments"?
A
Chicago Tribune, Saturday, May 15, 1954, s. 1, p. 16, c. 4:LOOKING AT HOLLYWOODby Hedda Hopper. . . . Looks like Cecil B. De Mille will use another of his "Greatest Show on Earth" stars in "The Ten Commandments." In addition to Charlton Heston, who plays Moses, he's talking with Cornel Wilde about the part of Joshua. Wilde had only enough time to shave off his beard after finishing his last picture before he reported to 20th Century Fox to play a Kansas City auto salesman opposite June Allyson._______________________________
