Goofs
After Kent kills Vance in the kitchen there is a dish rack to the right of the sink touching the edge, but when Kent washes the bloody doll in the same sink a few seconds later the dish rack is missing (removed to make room for the camera).

Both times that Vance carries the supposedly unconscious or dead Debra, when he puts her down she very obviously is gripping his arm or shoulder to prevent herself from falling onto the floor.

In the scene where we first see Laurie Ballard tied up in the bed and Vance enters the room, the shadow of a boom mic is clearly visible on the wall behind them.

Q
Is the movie The Toolbox Murders based on fact?
A
Yes. According to the (shortened version here), epilogue at the end of the movie that states: The events in this movie took place in 1967. "Laurie Ballard" spent from 1967 to 1970 in a mental institution. In April 1974, "Joanne Ballard" was killed in a single car crash. 1975 saw "Laurie" marry, and have one child, both live four miles from where here brother "Vance" and "Kent Kingsley" died.
Q
What are the differences between the censored British BBFC 18 Version and the R-Rated Version?
A
After the movie was put off the video nasties list the film was re-released by Vipco on VHS and later on DVD, but it had to be cut in two scenes to get the BBFC 18 rating. Obviously Vipco has gone a little bit too far to fulfill the target of the BBFC because at least one of the two cuts wasn't demanded in this extent by the BBFC. So in the Vipco version the complete end of the nail gun-murder is missing, while the BBFC already demanded at this point in the much more censored Theatrical version only a small cut and not a complete censoring of the whole scene. Moreover the same version was also released in the UK by Horror Video and Cornerstone. In total here's missing 1 minute and 18 seconds. A detailed comparison between both versions with pictures can be found here.
