Robbie tells Linda at one point to "Get out of my Van Halen T-shirt before you jinx the band and they break up". David Lee Roth did leave Van Halen in 1985 (the year in which the movie is set).

Coincidentally, this movie has several actors who have at some poInt appeared in the tv show friends. Christine Taylor (who plays Holly) appeared as Phoebe's friend and Ross's potential girlfriend Bonnie-the one who shaves her head. Christina Pickles (who plays Julia's mother) plays Monica and Ross' mother. Incidentally, she mentions in the car to Julia -before Robbie is to marry Linda- that Julia's paternal grandmother has facial hair and looks like Magnum P.I., who is played by Tom Selleck, who also plays Richard, Monica's boyfriend. Jon Lovitz, who plays Jimmy Moore, the other wedding singer, plays the pot smoking restaurant owner who offers a potential job to Monica in the first season. And Angela Featherstone, who plays Robbie's fianceé, plays the hot girl who works at the copy shop and who Ross "cheats" on Rachel with when they were "on a break".

Goofs
Frank and Rosie are supposed to be celebrating their 50th anniversary. However, the picture on the wall of their wedding is dated 1948, which is 50 years before the film was released in 1998. However it's set in 1985, which was 37 years since 1948.

There are numerous '80s references (including, but not limited to, the Rubik's Cube, assorted songs, TV shows and fashions) which pre- or post-date 1985 (the year of the movie). While technically anachronistic, it seems reasonable to allow them since the intention is clearly to produce a "period" '80s feel rather than a strictly accurate historical recreation of a specific year.

Robbie: [Robbie notices Julia's fiancee is flirting with another woman across the room, so he tries to provoke him to talk] That is a luscious ass right there isn't it? Mmm. My God.

Q
What relation is Holly to Julia?
A
Holly Sullivan is Julia Sullivan's cousin. At the beginning of the movie we hear someone say that Julia is "Holly Sullivan's cousin."Because both Holly and Julia share the same last name, each of their fathers being brothers is the simplest possible connection.
Q
What are the differences between the Theatrical Version and the Extended Cut?
A
Basically there's only one difference between both versions: a nearly four minute dialogue scene between Rosie and Robbie. A detailed comparison between both versions with pictures can be found here.
