Originally was titled "The Visitors" but before ABC picked the show up to series they requested the title be changed due to the similarities in another show that aired on ABC called "V" which stands for visitors. When ABC picked the show up to series the title was announced as "The Whispers".

Although Brianna Brown stared in the pilot it was announced in June of 2014 that she would not be starring in the show once it began production on further episodes which would later start filming in July 2014.
