For the final sequence in which THX is climbing up to the surface, it is a simple perspective trick. It is not a ladder, but re-bar embedded in concrete. The actors are actually crawling along a horizontal surface. By tilting the camera to appropriate angles, it appears that the characters are climbing upward.

During the car chase, THX's car is shown from the front stopping in the right-hand lane of two. A subsequent shot showing a monitor has the car from the rear, stopped in the left-hand lane.

During the chase scene at the end, it is shown on one monitor that the THX budget is 3,410 units over the budget of 14,000 units (24%). A voice had stated earlier that accounts are to be terminated when they exceed their original budget by 5%. When the account/chase is terminated, we hear a voice say that the THX project is 6% over budget, which would be 840 units, not 3,410.

What are the differences between the Original Version and the Director's Cut?

Upon its first release on DVD Lucas created a Director's Cut. For this "Director's Cut", Lucas has had the film restored lavishly by Lowry Digital Images and many scenes were digitally revamped with the help of his special effects company Industrial Light & Magic. Some scenes were also changed a little and have different dialogue. In total there's a difference of approx. 3 minutes and a detailed comparison between both versions with pictures can be found here.
