The first scene on the street with Ryan (Darren Hamlyn) and Liane (Leah Dizon) was filmed in front of San Francisco State University. The scene was written as a rain sequence, but was changed due to the lack of rain. The scene was filmed on a Sunday. It rained in San Francisco on Friday, Saturday, and Monday.

The main three actors Darren Hamlyn, Heather Soon, and Leah Dizon are "hapa". Darren Hamlyn (Japanese/Caucasian), Heather Soon (Chinese/Caucasian) and Leah Dizon (Filipina/Chinese/Caucasian). One of the supporting actors is also "hapa." Jason Jung (who plays the ex-boyfriend) is half Korean, half Caucasian.
