Trivia
The music store depicted in the film is the interior of Sound Exchange, located at 1846 Richmond Avenue in the Montrose District in Houston, Texas. The "Sound Exchange" banner seen before the movie's end is actually the real banner used at the original location, at 1718 Westheimer, before the record store moved to its current location in 1997.

The Senate hearing room is actually the Houston City Council chambers, located on the second floor at the Houston City Hall building, 901 Bagby, in Houston, Texas. The council members names were digitally erased during filming at City Hall. A brief scene takes place in front of the Sam Houston statue at Hermann Park, which resembles part of Washington, D.C.

Dee Snider's speech before the Senate is, word for word, the exact same speech he gave during the real Senate hearings in 1985.

Goofs
The end credits state none of Frank Zappa's albums received a Parental Advisory sticker, when in fact "Jazz From Hell" (ironically a purely instrumental album) was tagged with a Parental Advisory warning by the distributor.

Tipper Gore says she was dancing with her kids to Prince's "Let's Go Crazy", and comments on the lyrics of the next song, "Darling Nikki". Both songs appear on the soundtrack to Purple Rain, but the songs are tracks 1 and 5; they are not consecutive.
