The Alien

The picture was made for $150,000, (of which $75,000 went to Jack Palance and Martin Landau as their salaries), and was filmed in three weeks.

The fifth and final cinematic collaboration between director Greydon Clark and cinematographer Dean Cundey.

The extreme close-up shots of the flying creatures digging into various people were filmed by a three person crew in Greydon Clark's garage.

Just after Beth relays the "no chance, no help, no escape" message in the restroom to the rest of the group, a microphone is seen coming into view on the bottom of the screen. It can be clearly observed moving between speaking actors for several seconds.

Joe Taylor: Sarge said that Alien was here for an invasion... that Alien came here only for sport to get him some trophies and we are the prized game.

Leo: Sarge, this guy here says he's seen some of your flying saucers.

Scoutmaster: [taking the scouts into the wilderness] All right men, today's the day we're going to go into the wilderness. Now, all my life I've waited to take a group of men like you into the wilderness. Now these are hallowed mountains. Roamed by great Indian tribes like the Apache, Iroqui, Chippawa, and Hoppi.
