In the scene in which Jack Marcus destroys his living room, the music in the background is David Bowie's "The Stars (Are Out Tonight)" from his album The Next Day. Clive Owen insisted on using this on the soundtrack rather than the classical music that director Fred Schepisi preferred.

The word is 'inalienable,' not 'unalienable,' when referring to the Declaration of Independence. Clive Owens' character used the incorrect word in one of the classroom scenes.

Q
Maine or Vancouver?
A
The credits list Vancouver, British Columbia as the film's location (and I also saw Langley listed, which is near Vancouver). I recognized this because I live south of the border in Bellingham, Washington State. However, in the outtakes, the producers relate driving around Maine looking for an appropriate school, and then settling on St. George's due to its modernity, and its cedar trees. Of course, Vancouver has plenty of Cedars as well, and St. George's is a British motif about the fellow who slew the Dragon.
