As written in the original script, the characters were in their late 20s. However, they were made younger in order for the film to appeal to younger audiences.
When the four are running from the cabin after awakening the mountain men, Desmond Harrington broke his right ankle after landing on the opposite side of a log. This made it very difficult to shoot some of the scenes after his left leg is "shot" and he has to limp on his right leg.
When the trooper is shot in the eye and the cannibal throws him into the van, we see the cannibal throw his quiver of arrows in to the back of the van. After arriving back at the shack the cannibal drags the policeman to the hut we see him wearing his quiver of arrows without actually having picked them up from the backs seat of the car.
Chris hooks himself under the state trooper's truck to sneak back to the house to save Jesse. When the truck pulls up to the house, however, there is no sign of Chris under the truck.
After the park ranger is shot in the eye and Chris gets into the car the cannibal lets one arrow fly. There are two arrows in the back of the passenger seat.
The survivors are Chris Flynn (Desmond Harrington) and Jessie Burlingame (Eliza Dushku). The people who die are Carly (Emmanuelle Chriqui), Scott (Jeremy Sisto), Evan (Kevin Zegers) Francine (Lindy Booth), Halley (Yvonne Gaudry), and Rich (Joel Harris). Cannibals: Three Finger (Julian Richings) survives, Saw-Tooth (Garry Robbibs) dies, One-Eye (Ted Clark) dies.
