This is the last Titanic film to be made exclusively in the United Kingdom, the birthplace of the real Titanic. S.O.S. Titanic (1979) did film in the UK (at Shepperton Studios, The Waldorf Hotel), but also filmed in the United States aboard the (former British) RMS Queen Mary. Titanic (2012) written by British screenwriter Julian Fellowes, features a British cast but was filmed in Hungary.

Laurence Naismith and Michael Goodliffe (who here share three scenes together), would later appear in two separate James Bond films. Naismith in Diamonds Are Forever (1971), and Goodliffe in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974). While Honor Blackman and Desmond Llewelyn (who here share no scenes together), would later appear in the third James Bond film Goldfinger (1964) (again sharing no scenes), Blackman as Pussy Galore, and Llewelyn as 'Q' (his second appearance). And finally, Kenneth More would later be considered for a role in the eighth James Bond film, Live and Let Die (1973), replacing an ill Bernard Lee in the role of M.

Goofs
Toward the end when Mr. Lightoller climbs on the overturned lifeboat and helps others on the boat it doesn't move. Any floating boat would have but this was obviously fixed on a pedestal for filming purposes.

The film is set in 1912, yet a passenger on deck in a life jacket clearly has a 1950s (Tommy Steele) style haircut.

The priest in the opening scenes has his Biretta - his hat - on wrong. It is turned 180 degrees. There are three tabs and the middle one should be on the right of the head and the blank space for the missing tab should be on the left side of the head.

Quotes
Fourth Officer Joseph Boxhall: [peering through his binoculars as he and Rowe are desperately trying to contact the "Californian" through rockets and the morse lamp] Maybe someone tried to signal, but I can't make any sense out of it.

Mrs. Sylvia Lightoller: [as Lightoller is preparing to leave for the voyage] Do you think they'll promote you to First Officer after this trip, Bertie?

Captain Edward J. Smith: [enters the wireless cabin as the ship's end is nearing, to give Phillips and Bride a final order] It's time to go now, Phillips. You've done your duty. You can do no more. Abandon your cabin, it's everyone for himself. Look after yourselves now. I release you both. God bless you.

Q
A Note Regarding Spoilers
A
The following FAQ entries may contain spoilers. Only the biggest ones (if any) will be covered with spoiler tags. Spoiler tags have been used sparingly in order to make the page more readable.
Q
Is 'A Night to Remember' based on a book?
A
The film was adapted by British author Eric Ambler from A Night to Remember (1955), a non-fiction account of the ill-fated 1912 maiden voyage of RMS Titanic by American author Walter Lord.
Q
What is a 'growler'?
A
The night watch crew is warned to watch for small ice and 'growlers'. A growler is a small iceberg with very little showing above the water. A growler can prove to be a navigational hazard to ships, since only one-ninth of the iceberg's volume is actually seen above the water. A photo of the iceberg/growler that was suspected of sinking the Titanic can be seen here.
