The film, about James Bond creator Ian Fleming's "30 Commando Unit" during the Second World War, was partially set in Norway where it shot there at Ålgård, Rogaland. Spectre (2015) was under consideration to film in that country too but shooting there was canceled in favor of Austria. Previously, the James Bond film Die Another Day (2002) had utilized Norway as a filming location, with the locales of Spitsbergen, Svalbard and Jostedal Glacier National Park, Luster, Sogn og Fjordane in Norway, for ice cliffs, ice palace environs and the car chase on ice sequence.
