QIs this movie based on "A Christmas Carol"?
AAn American Carol uses the framework of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol (more properly: A Christmas Carol in Prose, Being a Ghost Story of Christmas) (1843). However, it is done so in political parody, changing the holiday to the Fourth of July (American Independence Day). The principal character of Ebenezer Scrooge becomes Michael Malone (Kevin P. Farley), a parody of American filmmaker and political activist Michael Moore. Jacob Marley is portrayed as former U.S. president John F. Kennedy (Chriss Anglin). The three ghosts become General George S. Patton (Kelsey Grammer), former U.S. president George Washington (Jon Voight), and the Angel of Death (Trace Adkins). The screenplay was written by Myrna Sokoloff and director and producer David Zucker.
