In the multiplayer mode, there is a character referred to as "The Night Stalker". He bares several resemblances to Jack the Ripper, with "violent history against women", and "the identity of this killer was never found".

Goofs
The musket shown in the game appears to be based on the American Long Rifle, also known as the Kentucky or Pennsylvania rifle. While this weapon was common in the colonies for civilian use at the time, it would not have been used by most military forces apart from militia, and did not have the capability to attach a bayonet. The British Army would have used the "Brown Bess" musket, in service since 1722, of .75 calibre.

The game depicts Connor's village being burned down in 1761, which is later revealed to have been done at the order of George Washington. However, by 1761, George Washington had retired from the military and had been living in Virginia for three years.

The sea shanty "Haul on the Bowline" is featured prominently in some sequences of the game. This shanty was popular in the 1850s rather than the 1750s-1780s, and actually features references to the American revolution.

Quotes
Haytham Kenway: Even when your kind appears to triumph, still we rise again. And do you know why? It is because the Order is born of a realization. We require no creed. No indoctrination by desperate old men. All we need is that the world be as it is.

Achilles: In your haste to save the world, boy, take care you don't destroy it!

Connor Kenway: My enemy is a notion, not a nation.

Q
Are the Freemasons involved in this story?
A
Their involvement is minimal. They built the tunnels that Connor uses to elude the authorities, and Samuel Adams is Achilles' (and later Connor's) primary contact with the organization. They are not involved with the Templars, as previous conspiracy theories would suggest, and seem to have little knowledge of the Assassin/Templar conflict. They have a larger role in the standalone expansion, The Tyranny of King Washington, where they are part of the resistance opposing a corrupted Washington.
Q
What is the Tyranny of King Washington?
A
It is a standalone expansion. Unlike previous expansions, it takes place after the main campaign and is played as a separate game. The plot involves Connor being thrust into an illusionary nightmare where Washington has been corrupted by an Apple of Eden, and has crowned himself the King of the American States. We eventually learn that this world, created by the Apple, is actually the product of Washington's nightmare, his fear of what he may become if he were to become too powerful.
Q
Is Juno the real mastermind behind the Templars?
A
No. The Assassins and Templars are both born out of the original war between the Precursors and Humans.
