Unlike Psycho (1960), the inspiration for the series set in Fairvale, California (United States), the prequel series, Bates Motel (2013), is set in the fictional coastal town of White Pine Bay, Oregon (United States). Instead of being filmed in Oregon, the series actual set is within the community of Aldergrove, British Columbia (Canada). Other set locations have been set filmed throughout the Fraser Valley in British Columbia. Alfred Hitchcock's original filming location for Psycho (1960), still hauntingly remains within Universal Studios Hollywood, Los Angeles, California (United States). The chilling set has been replicated in the small Canadian community of Aldergrove, where the modern series is filmed. Aldergrove is not incorporated as a town, though it is home to the southeastern edge of both the Township of Langley and the Greater Vancouver metropolitan area. The community borders Lynden, Washington (United States) and one of five land border crossings in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, a populous region that extends from Horseshoe Bay south to the Canada and United States border and east to Hope at the eastern end of the Fraser Valley. The series' replicated set is located on 272nd Street in Aldergrove, British Columbia.
