Beakman (Paul Zaloom) would often say as an expression of surprise: "Zaloom!", to which Lester the rat sometimes replied "you zaloom".

The show was based upon the comic strip "You Can with Beakman and Jax," created by Jok R. Church.

Paul Zaloom retains rights to continually perform as Beakman for live performances for children.

Beakman: Bada bing, bada bang, bada blast off!

Lester: You rub me the wrong way, Josie.

Beakman: Oh, my! Do you know what that music means?
