Sharp eyes will notice that as Superintendent Brooks is talking to Commissioner Dalby after one of the mysterious deaths, they pass an ad that says "Come Alive! With Pepsi". Joan Crawford was the widow of Alfred Steele, who had been CEO of the Pepsi-Cola Company, and at the time of filming, Crawford was still on the Board of Directors. Product placement of Pepsi can be seen in at least one other Crawford film of this era, Strait-Jacket (1964).

This film marked the second time that Diana Dors played a carnival performer who ends up cut in half by a power saw. The first time occurred in 1962, in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955).

Joan Crawford was early on the set every day in order to personally make breakfast for some of the crew members.

Although the murderer is eventually revealed to be Monica's daughter who's recently arrived from a far-away boarding school, there's no evidence she was anywhere near the traveling circus when the earliest homicides occurred before her arrival.

Although the film takes place at The Great Rivers Circus, all the elephants' headdresses bear the initials "BS" - for Billy Smart's Circus, the real circus they performed in.

After Matilda is killed by the mechanical buzz saw, we learn that the trick was normally performed by Matilda activating a trapdoor that moved her body out of the way of the saw. Why didn't she signal for Lazlo to stop or to the policeman to help her when she found out that the trapdoor wasn't working?

Frank Hawkins: [when Matilda shows up in his caravan with a bottle and glasses] I don't drink.

Monica Rivers: We're running a circus, not a charm school.

Wanda: [after Matilda is thrown out of Frank's trailer] Matilda, darling, you should be careful about leaving like that; you'll damage your brain.
