Both the first two top-billed lead actors of this French shot film, David Niven and Art Carney, both served in World War II and fought in France. Niven fought in World War II in France and had become a Colonel by the D-Day Invasion there and participated in that mission. Niven was the first Hollywood star to volunteer for the Second World War effort.
Much of the filming of the movie took place in Monte Carlo which was not far from where David Niven's then villa home called the La Fleur du Cap Mansion located in the Saint Jean-Cap-Ferrat millionaire-belt region where the ultra rich lived. This French Riviera house is where Niven resided during the final years of his life. The picture was shot close to Niven's home due to his then failing health.
Publicity for this picture declared that it was the first time that David Niven had sung on screen in nearly one hundred movies. The song that Niven sang in the film was Noel Coward's "I've Been to a Wonderful Party".
