According to the official Bionicle story writer, the appearance of the characters in this movie is not canonical. For instance, the main characters, the Toa, only have one hand in their mutated form, while their other hand is permanently turned into their weapon. In the official story, however, they had two real hands and carried a pair of weapons. Another discrepancy is the helicopter-rotors on the backs of the Rahaga characters, which allow them to fly. In the canon story, they traveled by swinging on vines and spider-webbing. In the movie, the rotor packs were only added to them to keep the pacing smoother and allow for more dramatic scenes by having them fly instead of swinging everywhere.

Roodaka's name means "treachery" in Matoran (the main Bionicle language used during its first story). It earned this meaning for her treacherous and manipulative behavior that we see in the movie, and also for her being a double-agent for the Brotherhood of Makuta and the Dark Hunters (two of the most powerful Bionicle organizations).

Goofs
There are instances when the characters' shadows don't match up correctly with the backgrounds. For instance, when Keetongu is climbing up the Coliseum, his shadow is actually a total copy of his outline, resulting in an effect that makes it look like he isn't touching the wall while climbing (his shadow is shifted to the side, so the tips of his fingers aren't in contact with their shadows). In another shot, Vakama slams his foot onto Matau's hand whilst the latter is clinging on to the side of the Coliseum for dear life. The shadow of Matau's hand is also a duplicate of his hand's shape, meaning that the shadow simply "stops" below his wrist (not at the bottom of the screen where it should), making it look like he has no shadow under that line.

When the four Toa and the Rahaga are surrounded by the Visorak army, they are still fighting in one shot, but are standing still and closer together in the following shot.

On the movie poster, Whenua's right hand-piece can be seen clipping into his knee.

Q
Are Roodaka and Sidorak Makuta?
A
Some movie summaries claim that king Sidorak and his viceroy Roodaka belong to the Makuta species -- this is false; they are merely servants of the Makuta. Roodaka's species is called Vortixx, while Sidorak belongs to an unnamed species that formed an aristocracy on their home island of Stelt.
Q
Was Sidorak in love with Roodaka?
A
No -- romantic love doesn't exist in the Matoran Universe. Their marriage would have been a strictly political alliance, and Sidorak's eagerness to impress and marry Roodaka as fast as possible wasn't fueled by love or sexual lust, but simply his lust for power, as their alliance would have granted him special governance over Roodaka's home island.
Q
What is the fate of Roodaka?
A
The movie is infamously vague about what happens to her.Once the Toa defeat her, Roodaka falls to the ground. Then, a hand made out of shadow energy rises up from her heartstone, grabbing her limp body and disappearing with it. Later story material explained that Roodaka wasn't dead, only unconscious, and the hand belonged to her master Makuta, who teleported her away to keep her safe from the heroes.
