Throughout the show a lot of the aerial shots were taken from the movie Blue Thunder (1983) to save money. Quite frequently throughout the season you can see that the pilot is wearing the green flight suit from the movie and not the blue flight suit that they're wearing in the television show.

The camouflaged vehicle used in the series is a modified GMC S15 Jimmy 4 x 4 with the rear section and doors removed.

According to a report in TV Guide (Sept 3-9, 1983), Gil Gerard had been signed to play a pilot on "Blue Thunder."
