AYes, Lewy Body is terrible disease of dementia that shares similarities with both Parkinson's & Alzheimer's. In fact, it is often mistaken for one of these diseases if doctors don't take the time to analyze symptoms over a period of time. Sleep disturbances and hallucinations distinguish it from Alzheimer's. Also, Lewy Body sufferers tend to fall down a lot. To date, Lewy Body Disease is impossible to diagnose with certainty by means of medical testing. An autopsy, however, will reveal the protein deposits in the brain that signal Lewy Body.Treatment is through medication and behavioral changes such as exercise, hydration, etc.; the disease takes several years to take over. There are no experimental stem cell treatments in Canada that I've heard of.
