Certain characters had their nationalities changed from the portrayals of their characters in the 1960s series. Captain Scarlet became a British/American national as opposed to his tradition purely English roots, while Destiny Angel dropped her obvious French background to become an English girl (with British/American nationality) in this newer version.

The supposed real names of the agents were Paul Metcalf for Captain Scarlet, Adam Svenson for Captain Blue, Simone Girradaux for Destiny Angel and Charles Grey for Colonel White. Lt Green was also known as Serena Lewis, Ochre was Elaine McGee, Harmony was Rebecca Drake, whilst Captain Black's real name was Conrad Lefkon.

Both Destiny Angel and Captain Scarlet looked slightly different after the first two episodes, with new hairstyles and slightly varied features. This is because the production company changed after the pilot episodes in order to shoot the rest of the series.
