Trivia
In the trailer for this movie, the flying scene where the 2 AH-1 Cobras escort Jailbird 1 during their landing in the Las Vegas strip included the dialog "Where are they going to land this thing?" spoken by one of the Cobra pilots, and the response by John Cusack's character: "How about the blackjack tables". Neither dialog was included in the final cut.
The Jailbird C-123 used during the filming of the taxi scenes is now on display at Wendover Airfield which is also used to film the scenes of Lerner Airfield.
Don Simpson reportedly hated the film's concept; when he and Jerry Bruckheimer ended their longtime producing partnership, Simpson was happy to relinquish any ties to the film, while Bruckheimer got the green light from BV to begin filming for a summer 1997 release. The film was therefore unaffected by Simpson's death in January 1996.
When the three agents first see the airplane dragging Malloy's Corvette in the air the plane is a good ways away from them yet after while the Corvette hits a building and is released from the plane and lands next to the three agents. The plane would of had to do an impossible turn and fly back toward the agents. It is does not show the plane turning at all, it was taking off and was trying to gain altitude.
After the prisoner's plane crash lands at Lerner Field, there is a shot of the plane's rear hatch being lowered that shows the underside of the aircraft. If you look closely, you can clearly see two tires on each side of the plane, even though the rear landing gear only has one tire for each side in several previous shots. The outer one is obviously the landing gear tire while the second, inner tire is obviously a truck tire. You can also see a large exhaust pipe and other suspension components that suggest that for this scene, the plane is actually just a mocked-up body that was built on a large truck chassis (likely a large box truck of some sort) in order to be driven towards the propane tank.
How did Cameron get such a harsh sentence for self-defense?
A
Poe plead guilty to all charges. Therefore there was no trial. Therefore no evidence of self-defense was heard. Also, he was Special Operations. They are trained when and when not to use lethal force. Even though it was self defense that would be a factor in his sentence. The judge even brings that up during sentencing.
