Trivia
Lifts footage from Steven Spielberg's Jaws (1975), Jeannot Szwarc's Jaws 2 (1978), Joe D'Amato's _Sangue negli abissi_ (1990), and mostly from Enzo G. Castellari's _L'ultimo squalo_ (1981).

Marketed as "Jaws 5: Cruel Jaws", even though the movie has no connection with Jaws (1975), or any of its sequels.

Before the windsurfing regatta, there are a group of cheerleaders that say, "Lewis Number One". If you look though, they clearly spell out "Wells".

Q
Is This Really Jaws 5 in the Jaws series?
A
No. "Cruel Jaws" was released as Jaws 5: Cruel Jaws to "cash in" on the Jaws series. Like Enzo Castellari's film, "The Last Shark" (footage from this film appears in Cruel Jaws, as well as footage from Jaws, Jaws 2 and Joe D'amato's Deep Blood. The Last Shark was also removed from U.S. theaters for being derivative of Jaws, has an aka title of "The Last Jaws", and was also known as the third part of the Jaws series in Spain, even though it has nothing to do with the Universal's series). Bruno Mattei did the same thing here with Cruel Jaws. Many lower-budgeted films (especially Italian horror/adventure pictures) are re-titled in order to incorporate themselves with higher-budgeted blockbusters. Mattei is known for his extensive unauthorized use of music and scenes from other films, such as his use of Goblin's music in "Hell Of The Living Dead".
