The film marks Sunny Deol' and Shahrukh Khan' last film to date.

The idea for the film germinated when Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra, Yash Chopra's sons, saw Dead Calm (1989).

The title "Darr" was already reserved by the popular horror filmmakers Shyam Ramsay and Tulsi Ramsay for their upcoming horror movie, but Yash Chopra requested the use of title from them, and they agreed to let him use it.

When Rahul leaves Sunil's house, he is wearing brown shoes. When he runs toward the road his shoes turn white and then brown again.

During the beginning of the rescue mission, Sunil dives in the ocean, but after a few minutes, his clothes are completely dry.

When Sunil is descending from the helicopter during the rescue mission, the cover on his face is on and off between shots.

Kiran Awasti: [sensing someone behind her] Sunny? What are you doing?

Rahul Mehra: You're facing me, / I'm facing you, / Shall I look at you or love you? / How did this happen / That you became mine? / How shall I trust this?
