Trivia
While trying to comfort Dumbo, Timothy says, "Lots of people with big ears are famous!" According to animation historian John Canemaker on the 2001 DVD release commentary, the line was recognized by audiences of 1941 as a reference to Clark Gable. The line was also featured in the original theatrical trailer.

There's a reference to "The Little Engine That Could". While Casey Jr. is trying to get up a hill, the train sounds like it's talking. It says "I think I can, I think I can." Then when the train gets up the hill and starts going faster, it changes to, "I thought I could, I thought I could."

The vocals for the song "Baby Mine" were performed by Betty Noyes, the same singer who dubbed Debbie Reynolds' singing in two numbers in Singin' in the Rain (1952).

Goofs
The bears' car changes from green to red when Casey Junior is loaded.

When Dumbo and Timothy awaken to find themselves in a tree, Timothy, upon looking down, notices that the trunk of the tree is relatively free of branches, with no pond below, but there is a fence nearby. But after he and Dumbo fall, they break through two branches and somehow land in a pond near the fence. And when Timothy looks back toward the tree, the broken branches are all on the other side of the tree.

The construction of the elephant car changes from time to time: 1. Shortly after the train loading scene starts it has a small entrance. 2. When the elephants are entering it looks totally different. 3. Shortly before the "roustabouts" song starts, the elephants are leaving the train car again, which looks different than before, especially the footbridge which is much longer and thinner - there are more examples (often parts of it are missing).
