Trivia
In the movie, Rita appreciates having coffee at the farmhouse. This is a nod to her character in the book who is a coffee lover having been introduced to coffee at an early age by her coffee addict father. In the world of the book, where coffee growing has virtually ceased because of the Mimic invasion and people drink artificial substitutes, Rita Vrataski still has some supplies of exotic real coffee beans and her only personal possession is a coffee grinder.

Brendan Gleeson previously appeared in another Tom Cruise star movie, Mission: Impossible II (2000).

While filming the car chase scene which includes a mini-van, Emily Blunt was instructed to drive fast and then to take a right hand turn so that the van would shake. However, Blunt missed her mark and she drove the car right into a tree. She later said that it was both hilarious and terrifying, as she almost killed Tom Cruise, who was in the passenger seat, but both of them started laughing after the incident.

Goofs
When Cage and Rita are talking in the car, Cage tells Rita she usually starts talking around Lyons. Having landed on a French beach on the other side of the English Channel, they would travel east to Germany, not all the way south to Lyons.

When the drop ship hits a pile of cars, its front rises and its speed decreases; Rita's inertia should either make her hit the front console, or throw her out through the windshield. However we see her being thrown to the back of the cabin.

The scar on Rita's forehead is virtually skin-tone is some shots (as if old and faded), and bright red (as if new) in others, although all of the action takes place within 24 hours.

Q
Is "Edge of Tomorrow" based on a book?
A
Yes. The film is based on the Japanese light novel All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka.
Q
How does the movie end?
A
Cage and Rita arrive at the Louvre, where they share a kiss, and then Rita lures the Alpha away while Cage dives into the pool with a belt of grenades. Though Cage is fatally injured, the grenades detonate, and the Omega is killed. However, the Omega's blood seeps into Cage's body. Cage wakes in the helicopter on his way to General Brigham's office, before he tried to blackmail the General. News arrives that there was an unexplained energy pulse detected in Paris and that the Mimics seem to have lost their ability to fight, implying that the Omega has been destroyed despite Cage's last time jump. Cage visits Vrataski who, from her point of view, is meeting him for the first time. Cage grins.
Q
How did Cage and Vrataski obtain the power to time loop?
A
When they were both killed in battle, Cage in the invasion of Normandy in France & Vrataski at the battle of Verdun, both were severely injured. Both had killed an "Alpha" alien mimic & when the Alpha's blood splashed on them & entered any open wounds they had, they gained the same power the Omega mimic had to loop time.
