Vincent Price was originally set to play Lord Harry Almsbury in the Peggy Cummins version but was replaced by Richard Greene when the film was recast with Linda Darnell.
Peggy Cummins went to America for the role of Amber, but production was suspended after a month for script work during which time it was decided that she wasn't well known enough and was replaced by Linda Darnell.
