Trivia
The "time travel" mechanism of the film, by which only messages can be sent through time, is similar to the method used in an award winning novel, "Timescape" from 1980, written by Gregory Benford and Hilary Benford.
In 1997 Renny Harlin was going to direct the film with Sylvester Stallone playing the lead, but Stallone asked too big paycheck and eventually neither Stallone or Harlin was involved in making the picture.
In 1969 when Frank is about to enter the warehouse, you see the fire truck lower hydraulic legs and you see a framing saw a bit later, neither of which existed at this time.
When Frank, in 1969, is saving the girl in the Buxton fire and John, in 1999, is being flooded with memories, we see his mother in memories of him being teenager, and graduating the police academy. However, shortly after that scene we find out John's mother became a victim of the Nightingale murders. During the funeral we see that John is still very young when his mother was killed, so she would not have been around during his teenage years nor see him graduate from the police academy.
