The scene on the foredeck where the Captain and the passengers were dancing, and the scene in the ballroom, was a common tradition at the time near the end of a trans-Atlantic voyage. These were usually held as the ship approached the end of the trip, near the coast and these Balls were called the "Captain's Ball".

The design for the "Antonia Graza" was modeled after the "Andrea Doria" (a man's name), a real-life Italian cruise ship that also met a tragic fate: it sank in the 1950s after colliding with another liner. Contrary to this fact, the "Antonia Graza" actually shows a stronger resemblance to the 'Leonardo Da Vinci', a slightly altered and larger design which replaced the Doria after she sank.

Goofs
When pumping out the engine room, neither of the discharge hoses have pressure, nor do you hear the pumps running until a later scene.

Maritime law on salvage at sea is not "finders, keepers" as stated. The amount awarded to the finders by a salvage court is typically a percentage of the value of the ship and cargo.

The C4 explosion that sinks the Graza is large enough to send fireballs blooming out of the liner's funnel and upper deck windows, yet it does nothing to Epps, who is just a few feet away.

Epps: Wanna hear something funnier? We just found a bunch of dead guys floating in the laundry room.

Greer: Francesca, I know all of this isn't real. So I'm just gonna go with it, okay? Can't cheat on your fiancée with a dead girl, right?

Murphy: I do know one thing. I've seen strange things happen in the strait. But I know something else. Sea gives you an opportunity, you take it.

Q
What happened to Dodge?
A
Dodge (Ron Eldard) was killed by Ferriman offscreen. When Dodge meets up with Epps near the end of the movie and she wonders why he hasn't asked about Munder (Karl Urban), Dodge morphs into Ferriman, who says that both Munder and Dodge are dead. He explains that he can't take a soul that's without sin and that Dodge committed murder (likely referring to Dodge shooting Ferriman). There is a flaw with that argument, however. Dodge shot Ferriman in self-defense which is quite often not considered a sin. Also, the fact that Ferriman can't be killed, at least with modern firearms, means that Dodge hadn't committed murder. So, Ferriman either found some sort of loophole in the rule or he killed Dodge but was unable to mark him, just as he was unable to mark Katie.
Q
How does the movie end?
A
After Katie (Emily Browning) shows Epps what happened aboard the Antonia Graza back in 1962, Epps decides that the only way to keep Ferriman from continuing to lure people on the Antonia Graza in order to collect their souls is to sink it. She sets explosives, but Ferriman prevents her from blowing it up by hitting her in the head with a pole and knocking the detonator from her hand. However, Epps is able to grab a speargun, which she fires at the detonator, and the ship explodes, knocking her into the water. Katie shows her a way out of the boat, and Epps winds up floating on the water, clinging to a chest as the ship sinks into the sea, and watching hundreds of souls (presumably the ones that Ferriman couldn't mark) finally released from the ghost ship so that they could join their families. In the final scene sometime later (hours, days, weeks?), Epps is rescued. As she is placed in an ambulance, she looks out the doors to see the crates of gold being loaded onto a new ship followed by Ferriman. She tries to scream but is cut off when the ambulance doors close.
