AHannibal Rising is the fourth film in the Hannibal Lecter series, preceded by The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Hannibal (2001), and Red Dragon (2002), all of which are based on novels by Thomas Harris and three of which star Anthony Hopkins as criminal genius Hannibal Lector. Hannibal Rising is based on Harris' latest novel (2006) bearing the same title. Harris himself adapted his novel for the screenplay.
