On Friday, July 31, 1964, while resting in her Fox dressing room, Joan Crawford suffered a relapse, and at 7:00 p.m. she was taken, by ambulance, back to Cedars Sinai Hospital where she remained for the next 30 days. During Crawford's second or third week in the hospital, she called her friend, director Vincent Sherman, and asked him to visit her because she was dying for some company. When Sherman got to her room, she jumped out of bed, locked the door and told him, "I'm not sick. I just couldn't stand working another minute with that Bette Davis."

Joan Crawford was seething when she read that Robert Aldrich had replaced her with Olivia de Havilland. She is quoted in "Hollywood Reporter" as saying, "Aldrich knew where to long distance me all over the world when he needed me, but he made no effort to reach me here that he had signed Olivia. He let me hear it for the first time in a radio release - and, frankly, I think it stinks."

Joan Crawford would always say "Good morning" when she walked onto the set. Bette Davis, however, would seldom answer her. Three hours later she might say "Hi", prompting Crawford to look around to see if she was addressing her or someone else.

As Miriam arrives, the scene from inside the cab clearly shows the driver turning right to go around the circular driveway. A second later, shot from the house, the cab is still going straight before reaching the point where it has to turn.

During the scene where Miriam meets Jewel in public, a smiling young girl extra with a bouffant hairdo and a ribbon in her hair can be seen walking behind them. Seconds later the same girl walks behind them again.

As household staffers pack up her belongings, a haggard Charlotte wanders through the house wearing no make-up. But the minute she sees an insurance investigator in the yard, she's suddenly wearing lipstick, eye makeup and looking years younger.

Velma Cruther: So you're finally showin' the right side of your face. Well, I seen it all along. That's some kinda drug you been givin' her. Isn't it? It's what's been making her act like she's been. Well, Ah'm goin' into town and Ah'm tellin them what you been up to.

Jewel Mayhew: Well, right here on the public street, in the light of day, let me tell you, Miriam Deering, that murder starts in the heart, and its first weapon is a vicious tongue.

Miriam: What is it that you don't believe Drew? That I'm here, or that I look the way I do?
