Henry Cavill said he felt very stressed out leading up to filming of his shirtless scenes for the movie. He would wake up every morning and look into the mirror and think "Can I still see the veins in my abs". He said he did look good enough but felt a lot of pressure because he wanted to completely deliver on the shape his director had asked for (a full eight-pack of abs).
When Theseus takes his mother's body into the temple he cuts his right leg and walks in bare feet, but moments later when he's fighting the beast with the barbed wire helmet he has gladiator-style sandals on. He has no shoes on, on the way in deliberately to leave a trail, although not shown one can infer he had shoes with him as well by the way he followed his foot-trails on the way out as he never ventured into the maze with his mother to honor the gods prior to her death, thus would not have known the way out. Furthermore, this is probably a sly allusion to the method (a ball of string) that Theseus used to escape from the labyrinth according to ancient mythology.
Theseus: Stand your ground! Fight for honor! Fight for the man beside you! Fight for those who bore you! Fight for your children! Fight for your future! Fight for your name to survive! Fight! For immortality!
What are the differences between the British Theatrical Version and the original R-Rated Theatrical Version?
A
While it was rated R (for sequences of strong bloody violence, and a scene of sexuality) in the States, the UK make an exception when it comes to censorship. Although a BBFC 18 was available for the uncut version, distributor Universal UK decided that this wouldn't be profitable enough for the British market. Therefore, they decided to cut the film down to a BBFC 15 rating. Unfortunately (and a not so rare occasion by the way), the DVD and Blu-ray contain this censored cut, as well. Different methods were used to tone down the violence. Along with normal cuts, there is one scene where the volume of a gory effect has been reduced and numerous alterations of the blood's colour (black instead of red). It's notable that this mostly affects scenes with fantasy creatures and not humans. A detailed comparison between both versions with pictures can be found here.
