At one point Myron says, "Jonny Quest" when referring to well-known characters on TV. Robert Patrick voiced one of the characters in the Jonny Quest (1986) TV series. Patrick played the T-1000 cyborg in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger.
When Howard first arrives at the Mall of America store for the late Turbo Man dolls, he is going down an escalator. Then, in the next shot, a crowd is shown at a toy store. You can see Howard in the crowd before he even gets there.
While Howie is drinking beer with the reindeer, he sees Jamie's drawing of his family pinned on a wall in the playhouse. Between shots it becomes a completely different drawing.
When Howard runs into Ted and the reindeer, the reindeer's antlers are still in velvet. Velvet is shed in August, at least four months before the Christmas Eve setting.
What are the differences between the Theatrical Version and the Extended Cut?
A
The new Extended Cut is not DVD exclusive or a DVD premiere. (Almost) the same version had already been shown on the US TV channel ABC. Almost, because two lines had to be censored (Quote Imdb: The Mall Santa's line of "That's not my bag" was deleted from television because of its sexual innuendo; Myron's line of "a woman who slept with everybody at the post office but me" was changed to "a woman, you don't even know where she lives any more!"), while on the DVD those lines have not been edited. Apart from that the changes are the same so one can assume that the version aired on TV is the same as on the DVDThe new scenes are quite nice, especially James Belushi getting more screen time should please many viewers. Also, the closing gag (Schwarzenegger noticing that because of all the ordeals he had went through he forgot to buy his wife a present as well) has been put behind the last scene at the parade instead of after the credits like in the old version, providing a somewhat rounder experience. A detailed comparison between both versions with pictures can be found here.In Britain the movie was originally released in a slightly censored version. It is missing a scene where Nunchakus are used. A detailed comparison between both versions with pictures can be found here.
