David Hasselhoff and William Daniels (voice of K.I.T.T.) meet on the Christmas party after six months filming the season. Until that point, Hasselhoff hadn't seen the face behind the voice of the car.

After two successful appearances, producers wanted to do more episodes featuring the truck Goliath and Michael's evil look-a-like Garthe Knight. However David Hasselhoff complained that playing the dual role of Michael and Garthe was too demanding for him.

The narrator of the show's opening credits was Richard Basehart who played dying benefactor Wilton Knight in the pilot episode, Knight Rider: Knight of the Phoenix: Part 1 (1982).

The copyright date at the end of the credits on the first (pilot) episode shows the roman numerals MCMLXXVII (1977) instead of MCMLXXXII (1982). Some people have suggested that this may have been when the idea was conceived rather than produced.

Every time KITT drives into the mobile headquarters we can clearly see that the car just barely fits, with only a few inches clearance from each side, yet Michael is able to swing the door open and get out.

In many episodes, the cars used in crashes or in scenes where a car is falling in a lake are clearly model-cars "driving" through miniature landscapes.
